Leonie Cronin

Léonie Cronin takes her countries colours onto the track to explore how individual identity gets mixed up with a national sense of purpose and pride. She is interested in the duality between individual achievement and the countries own uncompromising pursuit of patriotic gold.

The Olympics seem to mirror the divisions and boundaries we create on our lands with ritualised measures of distance and lines drawn in the sand, competing with one another for the greatest success and awarding the winners with gold.

She is interested in how the territory is marked and what legacy is left behind.
